<p>Written test will begin at 9:00 and will consist of 30 questions from the study guide. Construction project will begin at 9:30 and end at 12:30.</p>

Contestants need to be at the site at 7:30AM CT when the doors open. All involved in the competition must register on the first floor then proceed to the second floor for SkillsUSA registration.</p>
<p>Written test will begin at 8:15 AM CST.<br />
The contests will run concurrently at the facility. Teachers and parents will be provided a comfortable area to await the contests’ conclusions.</p>
<p>Location:<br />
Both of these contests, Commercial Baking and Culinary Arts,  will be state only contests and will be held at The Art Institute of Tennessee – Nashville, 100 Centerview Drive, Suite 250, Nashville, TN.</p>
<p>Scope of Contest:</p>
<p>Written exam<br />
Interview<br />
Skills contest for Culinary Arts to include preparation of an entree and side/sides.<br />
Skills contest for Commercial Baking to include preparation of baked item/items.</p>
<p>All students must have a typed, one page resume.<br />
All rules in the SkillsUSA Technical guidelines will be followed.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The regular State welding competition will be held in Nashville at Miller-Motte Technical College on April 7, 2012, at 8 AM. More information to follow at a later date.</p>
<p>There will be an additional welding contest at the Tennessee SkillsUSA State Competition on April 23/25, 2012, in Chattanooga and will be a Welding Sculpture Contest. This will be a single person contest. The contest rules are as follows:</p>
<p>Welding Sculpture</p>
<p>Purpose</p>
<p>To evaluate each contestant’s preparation for employment and to recognize outstanding students for excellence and professionalism in the field of Welding or Metal Trades.</p>
<p>Clothing Requirements<br />
<span id="more-219"></span><br />
For men: Official SkillsUSA white polo shirt with black dress slacks, black socks and black leather shoes.</p>
<p>For women: Official SkillsUSA white polo shirt with black dress slacks or skirt, black socks or black or skin-tone seamless hose and black leather shoes.</p>
<p>These regulations refer to clothing items that are pictured and described at: <a href="http://www.skillsusastore.org/" target="_blank">www.skillsusastore.org</a>.</p>

<p>Note: Contestants must wear their official contest clothing to the contest orientation meeting.</p>
<p>Eligibility:</p>
<p>Open to active SkillsUSA members enrolled in career and technical programs with Welding or Metal Trades as the occupational objectives.</p>
<p>Equipment and Materials:</p>
<p>Supplied by the Technical Committee:</p>
<p>One 4-foot table</p>
<p>Supplied by the contestant:</p>
<p>1. All competitors must create a one-page résumé using a word processor.</p>
<p>2. Student designed and produced sculpture finished prior to the state conference and brought to the conference as the finished product.</p>
<p>Scope of the Contest</p>
<p>The contest consists of two parts:</p>
<p>1. Evaluation of the Sculpture</p>
<p>2. Oral presentation and questions and answers session. All contestants will be asked the same questions, determined by the judges, before the start of the contest</p>
<p>Knowledge Performance</p>
<p>There will be no skill-related written test.</p>
<p>Skill Performance</p>
<p>The contest is designed to assess the ability of the competitor to design and produce a sculpture of that design, as well as give a presentation regarding all aspects of his or her creation of the design.</p>
<p>Contest Guidelines</p>
<p>Sculpture Design and Workmanship:</p>
<p>Materials used must be ferrous or non-ferrous metals. The sculpture must be an original and creative work of the student.</p>
<p>Sculptures may be welded, brazed, or soldered, depending on the material used.</p>
<p>Projects are to be left unpainted, including primers and other coatings.</p>
<p>All copyright laws must be followed in the creation of the design.</p>
<p>The sculpture must be one continual piece, not multiple pieces unconnected.</p>
<p>The sculpture cannot exceed the maximum size of 18” tall x 12” wide</p>
<p>x 18” long and cannot exceed a weight of 250 lbs.</p>
<p>Notebook – A notebook must be placed with the sculpture prior to judging. It must contain pictures and supporting evidence (i.e. receipts). It must include a brief description of the project and processes used to develop the sculpture. The first page of the notebook must include a letter certifying that the sculpture was designed and constructed by the student. The letter must contain an itemized list of all expenses. The letter must identify the school, city, state and local advisor. The letter must identify the student to be interviewed, division (high school or post-secondary), and the letter must be signed by the local administrator.</p>
<p>Presentation – The student will participate in a 3 to 5 minute presentation. Elements of the presentation should include:</p>
<p>1. General information (Individual’s name, school, and title of project).</p>
<p>2. Discuss elements of the notebook.</p>
<p>3. Inspiration for project design.</p>
<p>4. Details of processes and workmanship in the sculpture.</p>
<p>Question and Answer Session –</p>
<p>After each presentation the individual will be asked questions from the judges. Questions will be about the sculpture, presentation, materials, processes and workmanship.</p>
